Hi, I’m Karissa
I am a psychotherapist who specializes in working with complex trauma and relational healing. I use my extensive knowledge, evidence-based practices, and clinical intuition to help people understand the root of issues to create lasting change.
My therapy practice is holistic, meaning that I believe wellness comes from addressing the health of the mind, body, and soul. This can look different for everyone, as I respect each unique person who comes through my door. However, some things we may do in therapy could involve:
reflecting upon your story and improving self-talk
learning how to be kinder to yourself through self-compassion
learning how to identify and relate to emotions
exploring relationship patterns and family of origin dynamics
connecting to your body through movement and breathwork
connecting to your inner self through meditation and/or spiritual practices (if that’s your thing)
mindfulness practices to help you be more present and engaged with life
EMDR therapy to heal from the effects of trauma
I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that has been widely researched and proven to be highly effective for treating PTSD. It also helps with depression, anxiety, OCD, addictions, and more.

Why I do this work
Truth be told, I started this work because I didn’t want another human to feel the pain I felt growing up in a dysfunctional family. I deeply knew the depths of depression and the unnerving sense of not feeling safe inside my body. I embarked on my own healing journey and learned what I needed to feel well and to start loving myself. I learned how to feel safe in my body, how to care for myself, how to connect with myself, and how to live more authentically. I want to share this knowledge with everyone because I genuinely want every human being to FEEL GOOD. I have the lived experience, the professional experience, and the training to help my clients return to wholeness. Helping people develop a solid relationship with themselves and find what roots them in wellbeing is my jam!
